So you wanna start your own internet tv station, but you don't know how to do it. Well lucky you, this guide is just for you!
First thing you need to do is install
Icecast2 or if your feeling old and vintage, Shoutcast V1
(Linux) /
(Windows) or
V2 servers are also optional.
Next you need to install the ExampleStation.zip from Channel99's website, this example station is for Windows, if you wanna have this work with Linux, you will need to install
WINE make sure it's
32-bit, then you wanna you wanna cd into your ~/.wine/ as root, then you wanna do a
wget https://space.treezoxfm.net/rand/ExampleStationLinux.zip then you extract the files to that ~/.wine/ and then rename it to whatever one you want.
For windows users, this ExampleStation.zip will be more easy to install. You just download this
.zip then you extract everything to root of your
C: drive. Both zips will contain example bumpers and videos with a .sh and .bat in the Linux and a .bat in the Windows.
And now I hear you asking.
But what if I wanna add my own content to the station and not these example ones? This next part will help out with that.
First your gonna wanna download this
encode.zip. Next your gonna wanna extract all of the folders in the zip to the root of your
C:, then your gonna wanna edit the
config.cmd in this you will need to set a folder of where all of your .nsv's need to go to, it's the set OUTPUTDIR=C:\Example\
Also an option if you plan on using a watermark bug or a station logo burned onto your .nsvs, there is also the
C:\logo folder, this already has a example photo for 720p stations.
The next step is to set your ffmpeg and nsvtools folder into your
Environment Variables this one is kinda stright forward, you just open up a explorer window, right-click on This PC click on Properties, then on the right side your gonna wanna click on Advanced system settings, click on Advance and then you will see and click on Environment Variables.
(It should look something like this, ignore the python lol)
Now that you have Icecast2 installed, with port fowarding the port 8000 or whatever port you plan on using, you got the example stations working on either Windows or Linux, and you got the encoder working. Well now your ready to start running your very own NSV station! Congrats! Now go give yourself a pat on the back. Now go out there and make NSV cool again! Make that bitch rise from it's grave!
